Being in the service industry means that we have to be at the top of our game when it comes to any number of different things. First off there’s obviously the food that we prep and serve to our ever satisfied customers – that’s the primary concern for any food related business. But there’s a whole pile of other things that have to be taken care of too in order that these amazing burgers get prepped in the first place. Our own, and very obvious, skills as burger maestros is just another factor (that we like to brag about) but on a serious note there’s the other more mundane stuff that needs to happen too. Like providing fuel for the grills for the food and of course all the hygiene stuff that has to happen too. And hygiene means water and water means plumbers.

And this is usually where the problems start for most people because hiring a plumber is like hiring anyone to do that type of work – it can be a real potluck experience. But we’re lucky enough that our own plumber (found through much trial and error) is always on the spot with the help and advice we need and when we need it. There’s a lot to be said for somebody like a plumber providing the personal touch in this day and age and to be honest it’s the same way we approach our business – making the customer feel valued and then actually providing that value to prove that we value them. As you can see being in business is all about this value stuff.

Like we said we enjoy travelling and after our visit to London the next most obvious trip was across the channel to the land of wine and cheese – France! Well to be more accurate we didn’t want to travel across the English channel but rather underneath it. After all the Channel Tunnel is one of the single greatest engineering feats in the history of mankind and most people have taken its existence for granted so we knew that once we were in the UK we’d have to take some time out and try the Chunnel to see what it was all about. I mean how often do you get to travel underneath several hundred feet of ocean in a high-speed train that connects two countries together? Exactly!

So we shot underneath the English channel at speed and eventually arrived in France. And here’s something we genuinely didn’t know. Did you know that there are vineyards in France for sale? Like real vineyards with facilities and everything. We’d just assumed that vineyards were handed down from father to son in some old family tradition so we were amazed to see these places for sale.

Now obviously they don’t come cheap and some of the higher end places can cost a couple million euros at least but then it all depends on what region of France you’re investing it. If you’re buying a vineyard in the Bordeaux region you can expect to pay more than a less prestigious wine region elsewhere in France for example.

Keeping control of the light that comes in to any business premises is important. It doesn’t matter if it’s a corporate banking office or just your every day burger joint you still need to keep light levels at whatever level suits you the most. Plus this is going to vary from one time of the year to the next so during the summer you’re more likely to want to block out the sun during the day whereas during the winter months you’ll want to let in as much light as you can because the days are that bit shorter. Or maybe you’re having a “quiet” day because you got home from partying at like 6am and you need maybe just a hint of light around so you can see what you’re doing.

We like to travel as much as we can when we’re not working the whole time which is pretty rare let me tell you. As we both got older we started to realize that we weren’t immortal and that it was time to get on with our bucket list and start doing some of the things we’ve always wanted to. We’d worked hard to achieve what we had and we just figured it was time to start reaping some of the rewards from all that hard work over the years.

So like most good Americans we wanted to make somewhere in Europe one of the first stops on your list of places to be. Ok Bali and Vanuatu were on the list too but we decided that we should work our way there as we got more comfortable with the idea of travelling to all these foreign places around the world so we decided to stop off in London first. We’ve always been into music so Carnaby Street was on our list pretty much straight away and that’s outside of all the other historic stuff that was on our visitors list too – like Buckingham Palace and all that other stuff.

But like any tourist we wanted to get in some relaxation time during our holiday time too – long distance travel and sightseeing all day can really take it out of you. So when we were looking for a list of things we could we came across a Tantric Massage in London that we thought we could try out while we were there. We’ll keep you posted on how we get on!

When it comes down to it you gotta stay dry and that means having a roof over your head. So me and my buddy decide to hit the UK for a foodie trip. After all we know a lot about putting together a great burger but there’s always something new to be learned when it comes to producing great fast food and where else to pick up some tips than the land of fish and chips after all? Not that we intended branching out into a ye olde fish and chip shoppe. Not at all but the UK has a pretty high density of fast food joints so we figured we’d see how the other half lived and maybe get some holiday time in too while we were at it.

Now as typical tourists we didn’t really realize how big the UK was and even getting around the London area was a nightmare. Well it would have been a nightmare if it wasn’t for this company called Neales who are great for taxis in High Wycombe. If it hadn’t been for their patience and their advice on some of the best places to visit we would have been truly stumped to say the very least. Their guys are really professional and even when it came to handling a couple of loudmouth yanks like us they never lost their cool and were always good guys to deal with.

So what did we learn from our trip to the sceptered isle? Well to be honest guys it’s kinda what we knew already. And what’s that exactly? Well it’s just that real people like simple food prepared really well. Whether it’s a plate of fish and chips prepared in a delicious beer batter or a gut busting FnGoodeBurger the simple thing applies – don’t over think the eats. Just make it tasty and make it look good and people will be happy with what you do!
